Château de Lacroux

Located on the slopes of the Albigeois between Gaillac, Albi and Cordes, Château de Lacroux, a family business of 42 ha, has been perpetuating the tradition of Gaillac wines for eleven generations (in organic farming).

History :
Château de Lacroux has been in the Derrieux family since Guillaume le laboureur in 1615. After the Second World War, Pierre oriented the property towards the cultivation of indigenous grape varieties. In 1982, his sons Jean and Xavier joined him to create quality bottles. The third brother Bruno joined them in 2000 to develop the business and the trade. In 2016, the 11th generation makes its appearance with François, son of Jean and Pierre-Laurent, son of Xavier to enhance the environment, the terroir and its wines.

The terroir:
Gaillac is one of the oldest vineyards in Gaul, imported by the Phoenicians 4 centuries BC. The reason: favourable conditions for wine, the heat of the south, the coolness of the ocean and the wind which cleans our vines. Our first slopes give strength and character through our clay and finesse and elegance through our limestone.
The property built in stone on the spur of the causse dominates the valley of vines and offers an exceptional panorama on the valley of the Tarn, the mounts of Lacaune, the Black Mountain and the Pyrenees.

The spirit :
At Derrieux, wine is serious, the priority is quality and this requires time to care for the vines, to elaborate and mature wines typical of its terroir. It is also about conviviality and sharing the family nectar through its personalities.
We work our vines in a reasonable and respectful way and we contribute to biodiversity by covering our soils with green manure, and preserve natural areas in the vineyard.
