The GR46 : A portion of the Way Of St James

A mythical route full of discoveries and encounters: the Pilgrim's Way to Santiago de Compostela passes through la Toscane Occitane. Between Saint-Martin Laguépie and Mézens, the GR46 crosses the whole of our region. All along the way: hills, villages, landscapes of « causse » and vineyards... and accommodation providers ready to welcome you on your journey !

Accommodation less than 500 metres away from the route

Whether you are a seasoned hiker accustomed to the walking trails of Santiago de Compostela, or a group of Sunday walkers, our marked walking trails are maintained to facilitate access to the most beautiful landscapes in the region.

All of our marked walks are certified by the Tarn departmental hiking committee and by the French hiking federation. Hiking alone, in pairs, with family or friends has never been so easy!

As walking tourism allows you to discover our landscapes in greater depth, we have selected several circuits for you, from easy walks to more technical hiking trails for experienced walkers.

Tell us what type of hiking you are:

- Trail, trekking, moutain, hillside, valley, ridge and rock climbing

- Walks and hikes in valleys and natural parks

- Lakes, waterfalls

- Walks in the forest or in the vineyards

- Discovery of the fauna and flora and botanical observation

We advise you to choose your hiking location according to :

1) Your physical condition

2) Your level and that of your companions

3) The time you have available for this activity in the open-air

How to choose your hiking route?

We recommend that you choose your tour location based on :
1. Your physical condition
2. Your level and that of your companions
3. How much time you have to devote to this outdoor activity

The highest point in La Toscane Occitane is 491 m, so there are no high-mountain hiking trails, snowshoe trails or alpine club trails here, but there are plenty of opportunities for long walks and family outings with panoramic views of verdant landscapes, authentic viewpoints and breathtaking architectural treasures.

Remember to set off on your hike equipped with a rucksack, drinking water, a cap and sun cream in bright sunshine, walking sticks, a picnic or small snack, a medium of communication, walking shoes, and why not an IGN map and a compass. Always remember to follow the footpath markings and/or a GPS track.
